75th Anniversary Lectures in 2020:

Legacies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games – February

This conference will assess what the Games organizers, government supporters and sponsors set out to accomplish and what was achieved for the host communities.  The conference panels will include those who were involved in the planning, organization, and operation of the Winter Games and will feature graduates of the Allard School of Law who played key roles in the Vancouver/Whistler Bid Corporation (1998-2003), VANOC, the Games Organizing Committee (2003-2010), and 2010 Legacies Now, the organization created to provide lasting legacies of the 2010 Games Project.  The conference panels will also include key personnel responsible for ensuring the Games sustainability performance achieved the highest standards of financial integrity, environmental impacts and social inclusion.

Alumni Scholars Conference – May 7th & 8th

Alumni who have pursued academic careers are invited to join in our celebrations by sharing their research with us over a two day period.  The conference will involve short panel discussions.  The conference will be shaped around themes, research clusters or methodologies that are of interest to attendees.

R v Sparrow Conference – Fall

Co-hosted by the Musqueam and the Allard School of Law, this conference will provide an opportunity for scholars and members of the Musqueam community to engage with the meaning, impact, and future possibility of the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision in R v Sparrow in the 30th year since its decision.  Participants will include community members, legal scholars, law students, and other members of the legal and First Nations communities across Canada and around the world.
