Chira Perla is the Assistant Dean of Career Services at the Allard School of Law. Chira obtained her B.Sc. in Mathematics (High Honours) from the University of Saskatchewan in 2001, her J.D. from the University of Victoria in 2005, and was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2006. After summering at Cook Roberts LLP in Victoria, Chira articled and practiced as a commercial litigator at Lang Michener LLP (now McMillan LLP) in Vancouver, and then Stikeman Elliott LLP in Vancouver and New York.

In 2010, Chira chose to leave the practice of law to pursue a non-traditional career in non-profits and, eventually, the public sector. Prior to her appointment as Assistant Dean, Chira served as Allard Law's Director of Graduate, Certificate, and Professional Programs and, most recently, as Program Director for the Business Families Centre at UBC's Sauder School of Business.

Chira is passionate about education and working with students, and is grateful to have the opportunity to advise and mentor Allard Law's students and alumni as they navigate their own unique career paths. When not in the office, Chira enjoys every second she gets to spend with her husband and two young children.

Tracy Wachmann is the Public Interest Coordinator at the Allard School of Law. Tracy obtained her B.A. in communications from Simon Fraser University in 1990, specializing in environmental risk perception. While at Simon Fraser University, Tracy was employed as the Student Academic Advisor for Interdisciplinary Studies. After realizing that she could affect social change more readily through the field of law, Tracy obtained her LL.B. (J.D.) from UBC in 1994. Following a clerkship with the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Tracy was an articled student and associate with the boutique firm of Roberts & Griffin (now merged with Miller Thomson LLP), where she practiced general civil litigation and administrative law. In 2001, Tracy chose to become a sole practitioner with a focus on administrative law and began to specialize in the area of self-regulating professions. Since this time, Tracy has also worked in the field of public interest environmental law through West Coast Environmental Law, where she is currently a member of the Board of Directors, and as a consultant to the Provincial Ministry of the Environment. Tracy has worked very closely with grassroots public interest community organizations in such diverse areas as land use planning and community support for families.

Tracy is the mother of two children and has tailored her career towards maintaining a sustainable work/life balance. When she is not working at the Faculty, Tracy can be found kayaking in Howe Sound or hiking the trails of the coastal mountains.
