Dr. Cristie Ford
Dr. Ford is Associate Professor at Allard Law and Director of the Centre for Business Law. Her research focuses primarily on regulatory theory as it relates to international, US and Canadian financial and securities regulation. Her several publications have analyzed novel remedies in securities law enforcement, principles-based approaches to securities regulation, systemic risk regulation and the regulation of financial innovation, and prospects for "responsive" financial regulation. She also co-authors the leading text, Canadian Securities Regulation (5th ed., 2014) with His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston and Kathleen Rockwell. Dr. Ford is currently at work on a project for Cambridge University Press, which examines the relationship between regulation and financial innovation.

Chiara is the Executive Director of the Centre for Business Law. After articling at a large national firm in Calgary, Chiara was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in 2008. She practiced corporate and securities law in Calgary and subsequently in Vancouver before commencing her position at the Centre. In her role, Chiara provides leadership and management of the Centre and develops initiatives that engage members of the academic, legal, and business communities. She also oversees educational programs for law students including the Business Law Concentration program and the Business Law Clinic.
