2013 China Law Links Program

The 2013 China Law Links program has been developed specifically to meet the needs of those in the Canadian legal community preparing for business projects in China or with Chinese firms in Canada. The China Law Links program will be held over three days (September 19, 20 and 21, 2013). Participants will not be expected to have detailed knowledge or experience about China, but will need to have general legal training and experience, and to have read the introductory materials in advance of the session. Registration fee will be $500, for which participants will receive admission to all three days of China Law Links sessions, 12.5 hours of CPD credit (2 hours ethics requirement) and printed materials. Deadline to register is September 12, 2013

China Law Links Participants Develop Skill in:

  • Understanding the role of culture in managing relationships
  • Cross-cultural communication in legal and business relationships
  • Information gathering and due diligence
  • Cross-cultural negotiations
  • Cross-cultural Dispute Resolution

Instruction

The program involves instruction led by Dr. Pitman Potter, Professor of Law at the University of British Columbia's Law Faculty, with support from internationally renowned China specialists and in collaboration with business leaders and policymakers with significant China experience.
