Connect is an optional tool that instructors can use to share files with their students.
Making Course Available
The first thing you will want to do in Connect is make your course available to students. To do this you will go in to your course and click Customization and then Properties. Once in that window you can set your course to Available. Click Yes under Set Availabilty and then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit.
Sharing Files With Students
The other popular use for Connect is sharing files with your students. To do this you have to make sure you are in Edit Mode. In the top right corner of the screen you wil see Edit Mode is: off. Click "off" and it will turn green and say "on".
Once you are in Edit Mode a "+" sign will appear in the top left corner of the screen. You can click that and select "Blank Page". Type the name of the page you want to add like "Handouts" and make sure you click the small box under the name that says "Available to Users".
Click submit and then an editing screen will appear for the page you just added. Scroll down until you see the Attachments section.
Click "Browse My Computer" and select the file you want to share, it will appear in a list below this area. You can add more files if needed one at a time. Once your list is complete scroll down and click Submit. The files will now be available for students to access.
You can view what the students will see by turning the Edit Mode off.
